9. Data Disposal and Destruction
Three months after a Math Shelf license expires, we destroy all user data associated with that account. We employ assured data deletion methods
that reflect everywhere data or copies of data exist including
metadata, data from buffer, RAM or any service layer that uses the data.
When destroying electronic data, we use appropriate data deletion
methods to ensure the data cannot be recovered. Complete deletion
means that data is removed from all layers and components that handle
data. Deleted data is not accessible after deletion, either by Math
Shelf or the end user. Data is completely wiped from Math Shelf's
servers and from locally stored devices. Finally, we email users an
acknowledgement after we've deleted their data to inform them that the
data deletion has been completed successfully
10. Security Breach Notification
In the event that Math Shelf becomes aware of any act, error or omission, negligence, misconduct, or security incident including unsecure or improper data disposal, theft, loss, unauthorized use and disclosure or access, that compromises or is suspected to compromise the security, confidentiality, or integrity of data safeguards put in place that relate to the security, confidentiality, or integrity data, Math Shelf shall, at its own expense, (1) immediately (within 24 hours) notify the district(s), school(s), and teacher(s) of such occurrence and perform a root cause analysis thereon, (2) investigate such occurrence, (3) provide a remediation plan to address the occurrence and prevent any further incidents, (4) conduct a forensic investigation to determine what systems, data and information have been affected by such event, and (5) cooperate with any additional regulatory officials investigating such occurrence, including but not limited to making available all relevant records, logs, files, data reporting, and other materials required to comply with applicable law, and (6) perform or take any other actions required to comply with applicable law as a result of the occurrence.
11. Single Sign On Compliant (SSO)
The Math Shelf app leverages Single Sign-On (SSO) to enhance convenience and security for users. SSO allows users to authenticate themselves once with a single set of credentials, such as through their organization or a trusted identity provider (like Google, Microsoft, CLEVER or Classlink), and then access multiple connected services without needing to log in again for each one. This streamlined process simplifies access and improves security in several key ways:
- Centralized Authentication: With SSO, authentication is handled by a trusted, centralized identity provider (IdP). This means our app never stores or manages your passwords directly, reducing the risk of password breaches on our end.
- Secure Token Exchange: Once authenticated, the app receives a secure token from the SSO provider. This token is encrypted and is used to verify the userâs identity during each session, ensuring that only authenticated users can access the appâs features and data.
- Stronger Authentication Protocols: SSO solutions often support advanced authentication methods such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), biometric verification, or other robust identity checks, making it much harder for unauthorized users to gain access to sensitive data.
12. Policy Changes
To
improve the services it can offer you, Math Shelf may opt to expand its
capabilities for obtaining information about users in the future. Math
Shelf will update this privacy statement continually to ensure that you
are aware of developments in this area. We will post those changes here
so that you will always know what information we collect online on
through our Product, how we use it, and what choices you have. Please be
sure to check this page before proceeding to use our Product.
